20/20 Proposal Guide Lines in full:

You are invited to submit a proposal to be part of the cabin exchange 20/20 weeklong event program that takes place from the 17th to the 23rd April 2006.

Cabin exchange encourages you to think creatively about the delivery of the work and consider the potential that working in alternative venues offers, including the impact of site-specific practice and public and social intervention.

Proposals for Cabin Exchange 20/20 require the consideration of a 10ft by 8ft x 8ft storage container and its context with reference to its site.  We are especially interested in works that will engage with or involve members of the local communities. The nature of cabin exchange is that what happens is open and accessible to all and is not intended for purely arts based audiences.

cabin exchange support projects that demonstrate:

    - Innovation

    - Clear understanding of the specified context

    - An idea that embodies the physical cabin space

    - An exploration of issues relevant to the context of the cabin

    - Quality

    - The opportunity to explore an issue or area that influences, supports, informs,                       ..... inspires and contextualises your practice.

Context

You must state which of the three sites (Dennistoun, Tradeston and Pollockshaws) you would like to work in.  Potentially, you could develop a project that exists in all of the three sites. Specifying one of these sites does not mean that your proposal will only be considered for this space. Within the selection process we often find a different site can be better suited to certain proposals. In all cases you will be contacted before anything is confirmed.

Time and duration

Proposals are to state the timings of work - a maximum of one day and minimum of one hour per cabin is recommended although this is negotiable.

Reflection Period

There will be a week of reflection in June where cabin exchange will re-establish contact with the artists and communities involved in the projects, reporting back about the areas and experiences of cabin exchange 20/20.

Please keep this reflection period in mind throughout your work. If your proposal is selected, it is strongly recommended that you spend time in the allocated area and integrate with what you find around you before the event in April. We also encourage people to utilise the blog sites, in order to share information and experiences of these areas.  More information about the reflection period will come later on in the development of the project.
